ABOUT EASTERN ONTARIO TENNIS
The East Region of the Ontario Tennis Association (OTA) brings together a vibrant tennis community that spans Durham Region clubs to the West, Fenelon Falls Tennis Club to the North as well as Belleville (Quinte), Kingston, and surrounding areas. Through its network of 16 summer tennis clubs plus indoor tennis clubs in Pickering (Chestnut Hill, Mission Elite), Ajax (Ajax Winter Tennis), Oshawa (Matchpoint Tennis), Port Hope and Kingston, the region offers players of all ages and skill levels opportunities to learn, play, and compete.

The Ontario Tennis Association exists to serve the aspirations of all tennis players in the province.
The East Region consists of sixteen (16) outdoor clubs and five (5) indoor clubs provide the opportunity to play tennis 12 months of the year.

EVENTS
These events are hosted by the East Region tennis clubs. They are primarily for the benefit of their members and the surrounding community. They are intended as celebrations of the local tennis scene.
The National Bank Roadshow is often included in these events. It features members of the OTA staff, who set up the Smash Cage and offer on-court games and drills.

Team Tennis Leagues and Tournaments
TEAM TENNIS
Some of the best experiences in our sport come from playing on a team.
Team Tennis received a big boost in Canada when our men’s Team Canada won the Davis Cup in 2022, and our women’s Team Canada won the Billie Jean King Cup in 2023.
Being on a team ramps up the energy and the fun. Inter-club team tennis is organized into leagues and division several of which operate throughout East Region.

However, we can not do this without knowing what is happening at each club and the exciting tennis / socials that each club has and will offer.

Congratulations to Andrea Taylor (Pickering) and her partner, Sophie Dement (Bradford West Gwillimbury), who captured the Girls’ Doubles title at the 2026 U18 Fischer Outdoor Junior National Championships. The top-seeded pair defeated fellow Ontarians Ava Sanicharan (Pickering) and Elle Tucci (Woodbridge) in the final to claim the national title.

Congratulations to Andrea Taylor (Pickering, above left) and her partner, Montserrat Temprana Falco (Mexico, above right) who finished as runners-up in the Girls' Doubles tournament at the recent ITF J100 Boca del Río tour stop in Mexico. The Canadian/Mexican pair won the first set before falling short to third-seeded Eliška Drevjanová of Czechia and Riho Goto of Japan 4-6, 7-6(2), 1-0 (7) in a close final.
The Yonex U12/U16 Junior Outdoor Provincial Championships wrapped up on June 29, 2026 at Kew Gardens Tennis Club and Unionville Tennis Club respectively.
In U16 girls’ singles action, the top seed, Ava Mya Sanicharan, defeated Karina Swaminath, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Pictured above, girls U16 top six singles finishers, including Champion Sanicharan (above third right, with trophy).

First and foremost, a massive congratulations to every single athlete who competed in the Ontario Provincial 3★ tournament at the Ajax Tennis Club this past weekend! The level of sportsmanship, grit, and high-performance tennis on display was incredible to watch.

An event like this takes a village. We want to extend a huge thank you to the Ajax Tennis Club for opening up their fantastic facilities to host this event. We also want to give a special thanks to Todd Orrett for his continued, tireless support of junior tennis in Ontario and specifically right here in the Durham Region.
Lastly, thank you to all the parents. Your dedication to supporting not just your own athlete, but fostering a positive, encouraging environment for all the competitors, is what makes these tournaments so special.

On Saturday September 21, the Tennis ROCKS Championships were held at Sobeys Stadium. Teams who won their regional Tennis ROCKS tournaments (6 locations, 77 teams, 320+ juniors) during the months of July and August qualified to play in the championships. The tennis was amazing and the team atmosphere was electric!!!

A tennis festival environment was created as lunch being served along with snacks / drinks during day, customer tournament apparel, SMASH Cage and the fan favourite, the ice cream truck. Many thanks to Michael Orrett, Ashwin Patro, Yenny Musalem, Sonja Zibin and 20+ volunteers to make the Tennis ROCKS championships so successful.

On Saturday September 20, the ICTA held their 2025 season league team finals at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto. Over 60 Juniors, representing over 12 different GTA clubs participated in the finals. The tennis was amazing and the team atmosphere in the bubble was electric!!!
